Vechtstede College in Weesp
A completely new network implemented during the summer holidays.
During the summer holidays, HTC International completely renewed the network infrastructure of Vechtstede College in Weesp. An extensive project in which the existing infrastructure made way for a future-proof network with no fewer than 1,250 new network connections.
The challenge? The work had to be carried out during the summer holidays so that the school could be fully operational again at the start of the new school year. We set to work with a team of 12 to 16 people.
Removing and rebuilding existing infrastructure
The project began with the removal of the existing network cabling and connections. Alongside the existing infrastructure, we then implemented new horizontal and vertical cable routes for the new network cabling.
The technical rooms were also thoroughly addressed. In the MER on the first floor, the existing patch cabinets were removed. We then redesigned the space with new cable routes and two new patch cabinets.
In addition, we implemented and equipped a completely new SER, featuring three new cabinets and the necessary cable routes.
1,250 new network connections
From the renovated technical rooms, our technicians implemented a completely new copper network with a total of 1,250 network connections. In addition, a new fiber optic connection was installed.
After installation, all systems naturally had to be reconnected to the new infrastructure. Therefore, we re-patched the connections for Wi-Fi, security cameras, telephony, and PCs, among others.
As a result, Vechtstede College has a renewed infrastructure that the various IT and communication systems within the school can rely on.
A major task within a tight schedule
The scale of the project, combined with the summer holidays, resulted in a tight deadline. A large amount of work had to be completed in a relatively short period, with quality remaining the top priority.
With 12 to 16 people on-site daily, we ultimately managed to complete the entire project in 6.5 weeks.
This was not without its challenges. In a project of this scale, you always encounter situations during execution that require anticipation. Thanks to the dedication of our colleagues and all other parties involved, we were able to act quickly and seek solutions together.
Delivering on our promises
After 6.5 intensive weeks, we were able to successfully complete the project and leave the school in good order for the start of the new school year. The project also went very well financially.
Just as important is the client’s satisfaction. Feedback from Vechtstede College indicated that they particularly valued our reliability: what HTC International promises and agrees upon is actually delivered.
A result we are proud of. Not only because of the scale and technical execution of the project, but especially because of the collective achievement realized within a very short lead time.
